    This is a curious issue...I've tried this before and encountered the same issue. The only thing I can think of is to run an extra line for the skill to give the player a 1/2-second of Resistance V just as they cast the skill, essentially making them immune to damage for a fraction of a second. The damage would still hit them, just be nullified by the damage_resistance...

    The second solution I can think of would be to split the skill into @MobsInRadius and @PlayersInRing, then set the min of @PlayersInRing to 1 or 2 so it misses the caster. Only downside here is other players close enough to the casting player could potentially avoid damage.

    Can anyone offer a better solution?

    Use the filter like @LIR{r=5;ignore=players}
    more infos are at the targeters page on the manual at the bottom of the page with the heading Target Filters

    @Coldjacket This would not work though, because the skill is intended to target players and mobs alike. OP is trying to make the skill Not target the caster, only players and mobs around them.

    I assumed the @PlayersInRadius would only effect other players and not the caster. The aura part is easy, use ~onTimer instead to apply effects on anyone nearby without having to attack them. However, you will still have the same problem as before regarding the casting player still taking damage. I'm not sure how to avoid this...
